The Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow comic — the source material for the film — is more of a collection of mini-stories. “The truth is that Woman of Tomorrow in the comics is very much a bunch of little stories,” Gunn said. “We needed to create one throughline, one three-act story.”

Lobo’s Role in the Story

Lobo isn’t just showing up for a cameo or some quick fight scene. He’s a major figure. Gunn confirmed that the character is completely true to the comics — not mashed up with anyone else or watered down. He called Lobo “a totally separate character” and “maybe, in some ways, the biggest comic book character that’s never been in a film.”
