Who Is Ryan Leslie? Cassie’s Former Relationship Resurfaces in Diddy Trial

As Day 4 of Sean “Diddy” Combs’ sex trafficking trial continued, testimony from singer Cassie shed new light on her past — including details about her former relationship with acclaimed music producer Ryan Leslie. The court revisited this part of her personal life to help establish a timeline of events leading up to her involvement with Diddy, who is facing multiple charges including sex trafficking, racketeering, and conspiracy.

Cassie, now 38, told the court she was in a relationship with Ryan when she first met Diddy, confirming that their relationship was ongoing when she began working with Bad Boy Records in 2006. At the time, her involvement with Diddy was strictly professional. However, that would later change.

Ryan Leslie Helped Launch Cassie’s Career

Ryan Leslie, now 46, is a respected artist, producer, and entrepreneur. He’s released six solo albums and worked with big names such as Beyoncé, Britney Spears, and Kanye West. But he’s perhaps best known for discovering Cassie in 2004, signing her to his label NextSelection Lifestyle Group, which later partnered with Diddy’s Bad Boy Records.

Leslie also wrote and produced Cassie’s debut hit “Me & U”, which became a breakout success and helped catapult her into the spotlight.

During her testimony, Cassie confirmed that she and Ryan had been dating for about three years when she made a trip to Miami — a trip she now says was arranged to give the impression of a club appearance. A flyer was created to make the trip seem work-related, she said, so her boyfriend at the time wouldn’t suspect the real reason behind her visit. It was during this trip that she had her first sexual encounter with Diddy.

Cassie’s Testimony Reveals More on Her Early Relationship With Diddy

Cassie’s detailed account added critical context to the early years of her relationship with Diddy, particularly the blurred lines between business and personal matters. She described how her professional association with Diddy began while she was still in a committed relationship with Leslie. As her working relationship with Diddy developed, it slowly turned into something more personal, eventually leading to what Cassie now claims was an abusive and controlling situation.

Diddy has pleaded not guilty to all charges, including allegations involving sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion.

The testimony so far has offered insight not only into the allegations against Diddy but also into the network of people who were closely involved in Cassie’s early music career. Ryan Leslie’s name, though not accused of any wrongdoing, has resurfaced due to his past relationship with Cassie and his role in launching her career.

As the trial continues, more witnesses and personal stories are expected to shape the complex legal battle ahead.

Stay tuned for more trial coverage and developments as new testimony unfolds.
