Tiffany Haddish Shuts Down Baby Rumors, Opens Up On Miscarriages And Health Struggles
What started as a playful Instagram post between Tiffany Haddish and media personality Jason Lee quickly spiraled into baby speculation. The actress-comedian posted a joint photo showing her holding a baby while Lee stood with one hand on a stroller. With the caption “Cats out the bag ❤️,” fans immediately assumed Haddish had secretly welcomed a child.
In another image, the duo smiled while admiring the baby, who looked straight at the camera — enough to send social media into a frenzy.
Tiffany Haddish clears the air
Days later, while guest-hosting Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Haddish addressed the buzz.
“There is a personal matter I feel must be addressed,” she told the audience, before pointing out Lee, who was seated nearby.
“It made everyone go a little crazy. For some reason, people saw this and thought I had a baby. Even my own relatives were asking,” Haddish joked.
She then explained that the child in the photo is their godchild. “The whole world has lost its mind over this beautiful baby, I went ahead and made it our God baby.”
The comedian, never one to miss a punchline, teased Lee: “Jason, the offer is still on the table if you want to make a real baby.”
Lee instantly replied, “And I’m still gay.”
Haddish wrapped up the moment with humor: “I did not have a baby but I am open to it. Wide open to it.”
Health struggles and miscarriages
Beyond the jokes, Haddish has been candid about her painful journey with endometriosis. In a 2024 interview with People, she revealed she had suffered from severe pain that was initially misdiagnosed.
“I’ll be like, ‘Am I dying?’” she recalled, explaining that fainting episodes in late 2023 pushed her to seek medical help. “People just think I’m sleep everywhere, but I’m passing out because I’ll be in so much pain.”
Describing the agony, Haddish said, “The pain is crazy. It feels like somebody is kicking me in my back.”
The hardest part, she admitted, has been pregnancy loss. Haddish revealed she has gone through eight miscarriages. “Every time I find out I’m pregnant, I’m like, ‘Don’t drink, don’t smoke, don’t do nothin’. Even if I don’t really want [the baby], I still try to give it a chance.”
Putting motherhood on hold
The comedian has previously spoken about wanting children and even explored adoption. Haddish was married to William Stewart for three years before their divorce and later dated rapper Common from 2020 to 2021.
But with her career in full swing, she decided to put her parenting plans on pause. Speaking to Us Weekly, she explained, “I want to raise the child. I want to give the child my knowledge and my love. I want to finish up a few more things so that I can really focus. To have another human being that needs me — I want to be all the way present.”
For now, Haddish continues to balance her thriving career with personal challenges, showing both her resilience and her signature sense of humor.
