Thunderbolts Digital Release: When Will It Stream on Disney Plus?

Marvel fans have something fresh to add to their movie night plans. Thunderbolts, the big antihero team-up from the MCU, is finally landing on digital. This one’s got Florence Pugh back as Yelena Belova, who’s now running her own squad of misfits. If you liked the wild energy of Suicide Squad, this is Marvel’s spin on it, with a few familiar faces thrown in.

Directed by Jake Schreier, written by Eric Pearson and Joanna Calo, Thunderbolts packs in action and that typical Marvel humor. It’s the final movie in Phase Five, so if you’ve been following the timeline, this is the bridge to whatever chaos Marvel has cooked up next.

Yelena brings together Bucky Barnes, John Walker, Taskmaster, and Red Guardian for one risky mission. They’re not the shining heroes people put on posters, but that’s the fun. They all have dirty pasts and reputations they’d love to clean up. If you missed it in theaters, you can finally see what trouble they get into right at home.

Where Can You Watch ‘Thunderbolts’ Right Now?

Starting July 1, you can buy or rent Thunderbolts on all the usual digital spots. Amazon Prime has it for $29.99 to buy or $24.99 to rent. Apple TV, Fandango At Home, and others will have it too. Price might change a bit depending on where you click buy.

If you’re old-school and want a disc, just wait a bit. The movie hits 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on July 29. That version brings a bunch of bonus goodies. Expect deleted scenes, bloopers, cast chats, and a making-of feature. You even get audio commentary from Jake Schreier, which always gives you little behind-the-scenes nuggets. Just know bonus stuff can shift depending on which version or store you use.

Critics liked Thunderbolts. The box office run wasn’t Endgame money but did solid business with $381.5 million worldwide. That’s twice its budget, so Disney’s not complaining. Now they’re counting on digital sales to keep the cash flowing.

When Will ‘Thunderbolts’ Stream On Disney+?

If you’re not keen on dropping thirty bucks to see Thunderbolts right away, you’re probably wondering when you can just chill and watch it on Disney+. Good news — it shouldn’t be too long. Disney has a pattern when it comes to rolling movies from the big screen to its streaming hub.

Look at Captain America: Brave New World. That hit premium digital about two months after theaters. Then it landed on Disney+ after about three-and-a-half months. If Thunderbolts sticks to the same plan, expect it to show up around mid-August 2025.

Of course, Disney hasn’t confirmed the exact day. They like to drop that news a few weeks out. So if you really want to avoid spoilers or just can’t wait to see Yelena boss around Bucky and Red Guardian, digital is the way to go for now.

Marvel knows fans are split. Some want the instant watch. Some wait it out. Either way, Thunderbolts looks set to keep people talking through the end of the summer. So whether you’re hitting buy this week or watching the countdown for that Disney+ drop, there’s another piece of the MCU puzzle ready for your next couch marathon.
