‘Steven Universe: Lars of the Stars’ Sequel in Development at Prime Video
Big news for Steven Universe fans. A brand-new sequel titled Steven Universe: Lars of the Stars is officially in development. This time, it’s not airing on Cartoon Network but is being developed for Prime Video. The new chapter shifts focus to Lars Barriga, the once-normal teen turned space outlaw.
In this sequel, Lars and his rogue pirate crew will smuggle goods, dodge the authorities, and uncover secrets hidden in the remains of the Gem Empire. Sounds like we’re getting a mix of action, mystery, and some deep cosmic lore.
Rebecca Sugar makes the announcement
The exciting reveal came straight from creator Rebecca Sugar during a Cartoon Network Studios and Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe panel at the Annecy Festival. She shared the news after performing a song she wrote for Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake, giving fans a big emotional hit.
“I miss my world and my characters,” she told the crowd. “I can’t wait to share [the sequel] with you and can’t thank you enough for all your support.”
Backed by familiar names
Sugar will executive produce the sequel alongside her longtime creative partner Ian Jones-Quartey. Both are represented by Fourth Wall Management and UTA.
Steven Universe originally ran for five seasons and built a passionate global fanbase. While the new show still needs a green light, the buzz is already strong. If it moves forward, this could be another epic journey in the Steven Universe galaxy.
