Sheinelle Jones Speaks Out After Husband Uche Ojeh’s Death

Today Show host Sheinelle Jones has spoken publicly for the first time since the loss of her husband, Uche Ojeh. He passed away at the age of 45 after a tough battle with brain cancer. The type of cancer was glioblastoma, a fast and aggressive form of brain tumor.

The heartbreaking news was shared during the May 24 episode of NBC’s Today show. Hosts Savannah Guthrie, Craig Melvin, Al Roker, Jenna Bush Hager, and Dylan Dreyer made the announcement on air. They also played a touching video honoring Uche’s life. The clip showed sweet moments of Sheinelle and Uche over the years. Viewers saw family photos and happy memories.

Savannah Guthrie called Uche “an incredible person” and the “perfect partner in life” for Sheinelle. She spoke with emotion and deep sadness. She also reminded viewers that Uche and Sheinelle were married for 17 years and had built a beautiful family together. They shared three children: Kayin, 15, and 12-year-old twins, Clara and Uche.

Sheinelle Thanks Everyone for Their Support

Sheinelle has been away from the Today Show since December. After the tribute aired, she posted the video on her Instagram. She thanked everyone for their support and kindness. Her short but heartfelt message read, “Thank you, for all of your love and support.”

Her post was quickly filled with hundreds of comments from fans, friends, and co-workers. Savannah Guthrie wrote again in the comments. She said Uche was “full of light and heart and faith.” She added, “We love you and the kids with all of our hearts.”

Dylan Dreyer also commented, saying she hopes Sheinelle can find peace during this hard time. She added, “I’m lucky to have known Uche. His spirit lives on in your family.” Fellow host Jenna Bush Hager told Sheinelle, “We wrap our arms around you now and forever.”

A Heartfelt Goodbye

Actress and talk show host Sherri Shepherd wrote, “Sheinelle, sending you love and prayers.” Hoda Kotb, who left the Today Show earlier this year, also sent her love. She tagged Sheinelle and simply wrote, “Sending all my love.”

Savannah closed the announcement with a message for the family. “Sheinelle, Kayin, Uche and Clara and the Ojeh family: we are with you, we love you. You are our family.”

Uche’s death is a great loss to everyone who knew him. He was a father, a husband, and a kind soul. Sheinelle’s Today Show family is standing beside her now. Fans everywhere are keeping her and the children in their thoughts and prayers.

It’s a sad time, but also a moment that shows the power of love and community.
