Rudy Giuliani Hospitalized After New Hampshire Car Crash, Suffers Fractured Vertebrae
Former NYC mayor reportedly helped a domestic violence victim moments before the crash
Rudy Giuliani, the former mayor of New York City and longtime Donald Trump ally, has been hospitalized following a serious car accident in New Hampshire over the weekend. The 81-year-old suffered multiple injuries, including a fractured vertebra, after his vehicle was rear-ended at high speed.
The crash occurred Saturday evening, just after Giuliani had stopped to help a woman involved in a domestic violence situation, according to his head of security, Michael Ragusa. He was taken to a nearby trauma center where he is now said to be in “good spirits” and recovering well.
Giuliani Helped Domestic Violence Victim Moments Before Crash
Before the accident, Giuliani had reportedly pulled over after being flagged down by a woman seeking help. According to Ragusa, Giuliani rendered assistance, called 911, and stayed with the woman until police arrived on the scene.
Shortly after getting back on the road, Giuliani’s vehicle was hit from behind at high speed while traveling on the highway. The impact left him with a fractured thoracic vertebra, cuts, bruises, and injuries to his left arm and lower leg.
“He immediately rendered assistance and contacted 911,” Ragusa said. “He remained on scene until responding officers arrived to ensure her safety.”
Not a Targeted Attack, Says Security Chief
Speculation about whether Giuliani had been targeted began circulating online after news of the crash spread. Ragusa was quick to shut down any rumors of foul play.
“This was not a targeted attack,” he clarified, urging people to “refrain from spreading unfounded conspiracy theories.” He added that Giuliani had been driving a rental car, so no one would have recognized him at the time.
When one user on X (formerly Twitter) speculated about a potential link between the crash and the domestic violence incident, Ragusa responded bluntly: “He was in a rent a car, no one knew it was him.”
A Recent History of Public Stumbles
This isn’t Giuliani’s first public health incident in recent memory. In 2024, he took a fall at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, tumbling into a row of chairs. The clip quickly went viral.
At the time, Giuliani downplayed the incident with a quote, saying: “Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.”
Despite the recent accident, Ragusa says Giuliani’s medical team and business associates are closely monitoring his condition, and his recovery is going smoothly.
Giuliani’s Controversial Later Years
Rudy Giuliani served as New York City mayor from 1994 to 2001, gaining national attention for his leadership during the 9/11 attacks. He later became a key figure in Donald Trump’s legal team, especially during the 2020 presidential election fallout.
His reputation took a hit in recent years. He was disbarred in both Washington DC and New York for spreading false claims about election fraud. In 2023, a jury ordered him to pay $148.1 million to two Georgia election workers he had falsely accused of manipulating ballots.
Giuliani remains under medical care but is expected to recover. The incident has sparked concern among supporters but also renewed scrutiny of his recent public appearances. As of now, no further updates on his condition or the investigation into the crash have been released.
