Rick and Morty S08E03 Post-Credit Scene: Dice Fight Returns With a Funny Twist

Rick and Morty Season 8 Episode 3, titled “The Rick, The Mort & The Ugly,” gives fans a lot to laugh at, but it also sneaks in a clever post-credit scene that you might miss if you’re not paying attention. It’s short, weird, and a perfect example of the show’s ability to make something ridiculous feel oddly meaningful.

The Dice Fight Starts as a Joke

Earlier in the episode, there’s a strange little moment involving three Ricks playing a bizarre dice game. But these aren’t regular dice. After being rolled, the two dice grow legs and arms, then start fighting each other like mini wrestlers. One of them wins, and the Rick running the game isn’t happy about it. “Damn it, that’s not a six!” he shouts before smashing a bottle, which Hillbilly Rick catches just in time.

At first glance, it seems like just a throwaway gag. It’s classic Rick and Morty—random and absurd. But it turns out to have a purpose later on.

Post-Credits: The Dice Return

In the post-credit scene, we see the aftermath of Hillbilly Rick’s sacrifice and the fall of the Citadel. Everything is in ruins. Out of the rubble crawl the two dice from earlier. They’re dirty and scratched up, but alive. They sit together and watch the sunset, giving off a weirdly emotional vibe—as if they’ve survived some big war and are now at peace.

But then, just when it seems like the show is letting us have a rare quiet moment, the dice suddenly start fighting again. No dialogue. Just chaos. It’s a full-circle joke, but also a little metaphor for the way the show plays with tone.

A Mix of Emotion and Chaos

The episode ends on two very different but connected notes. Arcade Morty is left behind to honor the memory of Hillbilly Rick and Doc Morty. It’s a sad scene, especially since Morty and Rick come back only to blame him and walk off, ignoring everything that just happened.

And right after that emotional beat, we’re thrown back into pure silliness with two plastic dice punching each other in the dirt. That contrast between heart and humor is what Rick and Morty does best. Even in a short post-credit scene, the show finds a way to remind us that peace never really lasts—not even for dice.
