Netflix Confirms Jake Paul vs Gervonta Davis Boxing Showdown This November

Netflix is doubling down on boxing and bringing fans yet another headline-making fight. The streaming giant, which has 300 million subscribers, will host Jake Paul’s next big bout against Gervonta “Tank” Davis at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, on November 14.

This event comes nearly a year after Paul’s much-talked-about clash with Mike Tyson, which marked Netflix’s entry into the boxing world. The fight announcement also follows Netflix’s scheduled broadcast of the September 13 mega showdown between Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Terence Crawford.

Date Switch After Mix-Up

Initially, there was some confusion about the date. Ring Magazine first reported the fight for November 15 after a now-deleted post from Netflix Turkey mentioned the same. But since the venue is already booked that night for comedian Nate Bargatze’s “Big Dumb Eyes” tour, the final date was confirmed as November 14.

Paul’s Next Big Test

Jake Paul (12-1, 7 KOs) was rumored to be in talks to face former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, but that fight reportedly fell through because of network issues. Instead, Paul is coming off a strong win in June, when he beat former world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. by unanimous decision in California. That victory also earned him his first official world ranking.

Tank Davis Returns After Controversy

On the other side of the ring, Gervonta Davis (30-0-1, 28 KOs) was expected to rematch Lamont Roach on August 16 after their controversial draw earlier this year. But those plans were scrapped when Davis faced legal trouble in July, after being arrested on a misdemeanor battery-domestic violence charge. The case, linked to allegations from his ex-girlfriend, was dropped last week when she refused to press charges.

With Roach moving on and saying Davis’ camp wasn’t serious about a rematch, the stage is now set for Davis to fight Paul.

A Clash of Styles and Size

The matchup promises plenty of intrigue. Davis, with his undefeated record and far greater ring experience, will be stepping into unfamiliar territory against the much larger Paul, who is expected to outweigh him by more than 50 pounds on fight night.

For Netflix, the fight is another step in its strategy to make live sports a cornerstone of its platform — and for fans, Paul vs Davis might just turn into one of the most talked-about bouts of the year.
