Neil Patrick Harris Joins ‘Dexter: Resurrection’ as Chilling Tattoo Collector

Neil Patrick Harris is stepping into a terrifying new role. The actor best known as the lovable “Doogie Howser, M.D.” and the smooth-talking Barney Stinson in How I Met Your Mother is now part of the dark world of Dexter: Resurrection. This time, he’s not the good guy. He’s playing a serial killer called “The Tattoo Collector.”

The new season of Dexter premieres July 11 on Paramount+ for Showtime subscribers. The show brings back Michael C. Hall as Dexter Morgan, the infamous vigilante killer who has somehow survived his 2022 finale death. Now he’s hiding out in New York City, looking for his son Harrison, who had shot him in the last series.

A New Line-Up of Killers

This isn’t just a Dexter comeback. It’s a serial killer reunion with a twisted edge. Dexter: Resurrection introduces a chilling group of new villains. Each one has a strange signature, and they’re not just scary. They’re played by some of Hollywood’s most well-known stars.

Neil Patrick Harris plays Lowell, a successful anesthesiologist. But by night, he becomes the Tattoo Collector. He hunts victims with tattoos and removes the inked skin to add to his collection. It’s a brutal twist on his usually charming screen image.

More Famous Faces Turn Dark

Eric Stonestreet from Modern Family plays Al, also known as “Rapunzel.” He’s a friendly father of two in the Midwest. But he has a deadly obsession. He strangles women with ponytails, which has made him one of the most feared killers in the series.

Krysten Ritter, known for Jessica Jones, joins as Mia, called “Lady Vengeance.” She’s a wine expert during the day but becomes a fierce killer at night. She lives with flair, mixing elegance with danger.

David Dastmalchian is Gareth, “The Gemini Killer.” He murders in pairs and has kept the FBI guessing for years. He’s a legend in the world of crime stories, with books and podcasts following his gruesome work.

A Sinister Gathering in New York

All these killers come together for a mysterious event in New York. It’s like a killer convention, led by Charley, played by Uma Thurman. She works for a billionaire named Leon Prater, played by Peter Dinklage. This strange gathering brings Dexter face to face with a new group of threats.

The showrunner Clyde Phillips says one of these characters will become the main villain this season. The rest will stick around for possible future battles. That means Dexter’s journey is far from over. Even though he barely survived the last time we saw him, he’s now back and ready to deal with this twisted new world.
