The final touches are being made for the highly anticipated Mediterrane Film Festival, and Minister for Culture, Arts and Local Government Owen Bonnici was on site to see it all come together. The festival officially opens on Saturday, June 21, with a screening of Gladiator II at Fort Ricasoli. The film was partly shot in Malta in 2023 and gave jobs to many Maltese and Gozitan crew members. It’s a perfect choice to launch a festival that’s all about celebrating the relationship between Malta and international film.

Screenings and Special Events Across Malta

In total, there will be 55 film screenings throughout the festival, which runs until June 29. Screenings will happen at key spots around Valletta and beyond, including Spazju Kreattiv, Laparelli Gardens, and the Embassy Cinemas. The lineup includes everything from global hits like Troy and Assassin’s Creed to Maltese productions like Ciao Ciao and Harvest.
