Michigan Chiropractor Dr. Brian Parkhurst Dies Unexpectedly, Leaving Wife Dr. Karla and Grieving Community Behind
The Western Michigan community is grieving the sudden loss of Dr. Brian Parkhurst, a chiropractor and co-owner of Parkhurst Chiropractic & Lakeshore Wellness Center, who passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 14, 2026.
The announcement, shared through the clinic’s Facebook page, left patients, neighbors, and friends in shock, with an outpouring of heartfelt tributes flooding social media in the hours that followed.
Dr. Parkhurst had built more than just a chiropractic practice over his years of service. He had built relationships. Patients who walked through his doors often left feeling like they had visited a friend rather than a doctor.
Those who knew him described a man of rare warmth, humor, and genuine care, someone who remembered names, asked about families, and took a real interest in the lives of the people he served.
“To know Dr. Brian was to love him,” wrote Lily Anderson, a longtime patient, in her Facebook tribute.
She described him as the most wonderful and selfless person she had ever known, adding that his humor and level of care for everyone he encountered were things she would never forget.
A Doctor Who Became Part of the Community Fabric
For many in the area, Dr. Parkhurst was not just a healthcare provider but a neighbor and a friend. Jodie Lundy-Scammon recalled how he would greet her during office visits by saying “hey neighbor,” knowing they were from the same area.
She also remembered seeing him ride his bike past her house, a small but telling detail that painted a picture of a man fully present in his community.
Kevin Walters, another patient, shared that he had just undergone a hip replacement and had been eagerly looking forward to his next visit with Dr. Brian. “I’m gonna miss him,” Walters wrote, speaking for countless others who had come to depend on both his expertise and his friendship over the years.
Michelle Bragg Beers recalled how Dr. Parkhurst always asked about her family, remembered what was happening in her life, and genuinely listened during every appointment. Bridgit Klomparens described him simply as not only their doctor, but a friend, and called his passing a tremendous loss for the community.
The clinic released a statement asking the public to respect the privacy of the Parkhurst family and staff during this difficult time of grieving. Despite the devastating circumstances, the practice announced it would remain open in honor of both Dr. Brian and his wife and fellow chiropractor, Dr. Karla Parkhurst, continuing to serve the community they both love.
“Thank you all for your kind words, support, and sentiment,” the clinic responded to the flood of comments. “It means a lot to all of us and will be shared with Dr. Karla as she is ready.”
The community’s response in the hours following the announcement made clear just how deeply Dr. Parkhurst had touched the lives around him. He was a healer in every sense of the word, not only addressing the physical pain of his patients but offering a steady, caring presence that many had come to treasure. His memory will not soon fade from the community he devoted himself to serving.
