Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis Are Back in Disney’s Freakier Friday Sequel
Get ready for more chaos, confusion, and body-swapping madness. Disney just dropped the official trailer for Freakier Friday, the long-awaited sequel to the beloved 2003 hit Freaky Friday. Fans have waited over two decades for this reunion, and the trailer delivers everything you’d expect — and then some.
Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis return as Anna and Tess Coleman, and this time the stakes are higher. Anna’s all grown up, and she’s getting married. She has a daughter of her own and a soon-to-be stepdaughter. But before she can walk down the aisle, that good old freaky lightning strikes again — and things go sideways in the most entertaining way.
A New Generation Joins the Body-Swap Madness
What makes this sequel “freakier” is the fact that Anna and Tess aren’t just switching with each other. This time, they’re also swapping bodies with two clashing teenage girls. That means four personalities bouncing between the wrong bodies — and double the identity crises, awkward moments, and hilarious misunderstandings.
The returning cast brings the nostalgia full circle. Mark Harmon is back as Ryan, along with Chad Michael Murray, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Rosalind Chao, Lucille Soong, and Stephen Tobolowsky. And joining the wild ride are fresh faces like Manny Jacinto, Sophia Hammons, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, and Julia Butters.
Behind the Scenes of the Chaos
Freakier Friday is directed by Nisha Ganatra, who previously directed Late Night. The script is written by Jordan Weiss and based on Mary Rodgers’ classic 1972 novel. Curtis, who also stars, steps in as producer alongside Andrew Gunn and Kristin Burr. Lohan is executive producing with Nathan Kelly and Ann Marie Sanderlin.
The film hits theaters on August 8, 2025, and if the trailer’s any hint, it’s going to be a blast.
