Kim Jong-kook Announces Marriage in Heartfelt Letter, Marks 30 Years in Entertainment

Kim Jong-kook, the beloved singer and TV star known for Turbo, solo hits like “One Man” and his role on Running Man, just shared major news with fans — he’s getting married. The announcement comes as he celebrates his 30th anniversary in the entertainment industry, making the milestone even more special.

A Handwritten Letter to Fans

In a personal handwritten letter, Kim told fans, “I’m getting married.” He explained, “This year marks my 30th anniversary since debut, and while I haven’t made the album I wanted, I’ve created my other half. Still, I hope you will congratulate me and support me. It’s very late, but how fortunate it is to go this way. I will strive to live well.”

While Kim didn’t reveal details about his fiancée, he did say the wedding will be a small, private ceremony with family, relatives, and a few close friends. He added that the ceremony will happen “as soon as possible.”

His agency, TURBO.JK COMPANY, released a statement, saying, “It’s even more meaningful to make this new start in the significant year of his 30th debut anniversary. It would be great if many people could send warm support and congratulate him.”

From Turbo to TV Stardom

Kim Jong-kook first rose to fame in 1995 as part of the group Turbo, with hits like “Remind,” “White Love,” and “Twist King.” He later launched a solo career in 2001 with songs such as “One Man,” “Staying in Place,” and “Lovely.” His third solo album, featuring “Lovely,” swept multiple year-end broadcasting awards in 2005.

Outside of music, Kim built a successful TV career. He became a household name through variety shows like X-Man, Family Outing, Running Man, and My Little Old Boy. His variety career hit a peak in 2020 when he received the grand prize at the SBS Entertainment Awards.

Emotional Words for Fans

In his letter, Kim admitted he was nervous about writing the announcement: “I always prepared in my heart for the day when I could write such a post myself and upload it, but now that I’m preparing this writing, I am more nervous and trembling than I imagined.”

He thanked fans for their support over the years, adding, “Thanks to the fans who have always been a great strength for a long time, I’m getting married and taking on new challenges in life. I will work harder and strive to be a better Kim Jong-kook.”
