JJ Spaun Family: Meet Wife Melody, Daughters Emerson and Violet, and His Parents
JJ Spaun just pulled off one of the biggest wins of his career by claiming the 2025 US Open title at Oakmont Country Club. But behind this huge moment is a strong and supportive family that’s been with him all the way. From his roots in California to his home in Arizona, JJ’s story is deeply connected to his loved ones.
He grew up in San Dimas, a city in Los Angeles County, California. His parents, John and Dollie Spaun, were both golfers. So it’s not really a surprise that JJ ended up with a golf club in hand. His mom, Dollie, is of Mexican and Filipino descent. She worked as an office manager. His dad, John, worked as a hospital administrator. Golf was in the family blood, and both parents played a big role in helping JJ chase his dream.
In 2019, JJ Spaun married Melody Means. The two met through mutual friends while living in California. Melody didn’t know much about golf when they met. But that didn’t stop her from becoming one of the most important people in JJ’s career. Today, they live in Scottsdale, Arizona, with their two daughters, Emerson and Violet.
Emerson was born in 2020, and she shares a birthday with her mom. Violet came into the world in 2023, just before JJ competed at the Travelers Championship. Being a dad hasn’t slowed JJ down, but it has definitely changed his routine.
Melody helps him stay on track with something they call the “five-hour rule.” JJ explains that he gives golf five solid hours of full focus each day. After that, it’s all about family time. This balance has made him more productive. He doesn’t get distracted on the range or at the course. He does his job, then heads home to be with his girls.
Winning the US Open was huge for JJ. But what’s even more special is knowing that his family has been there through the ups and downs. Whether it was Melody’s support, his parents’ early influence, or his daughters cheering from home, every part of JJ Spaun’s journey has had family at its heart.
