Jessica Simpson Handles Wardrobe Malfunction Like a Pro During ‘Today’ Show Performance
Jessica Simpson proved she’s still got star power — and composure — after a wardrobe mishap during her performance on the Today show’s Citi Concert Series on Wednesday, July 23.
The 45-year-old singer, known for her 2000s hits and bold stage presence, experienced a minor slip when her pale pink satin corset-style top shifted on the left side, revealing a pink bra while performing a medley of “I Think I’m in Love with You” and “With You.”
“Of course, I have, like, a malfunction here and everywhere. But it’s OK. I think my boob stayed in, so that’s good,” Jessica joked with the hosts afterward, brushing off the incident with humor.
Jessica’s Musical Comeback
Simpson, who last released a Christmas album in 2010, is making a strong return to music. In March, she dropped Nashville Canyon, Part 1, the first half of her two-part EP. During the Today show, she blended nostalgic hits with new tracks, including “Fade” from her upcoming Part 2, which will release in September.
“It was incredibly healing to write these new songs,” Simpson told co-host Jenna Bush Hager. “My life literally flipped upside down, and I really just had to focus on my purpose. Music saved my life. Nashville saved my life. All the songwriters, my band, everybody.”
Life Changes and Personal Struggles
In January, Simpson revealed that she and her husband of 10 years, former NFL player Eric Johnson, were “living separately and navigating a painful situation in our marriage.”
The couple, who married in 2014, share three children — Maxwell Drew, 13, Ace Knute, 12, and Birdie Mae, 6.
Despite personal challenges, Simpson’s comeback is a testament to her resilience and love for music. “I was trying to inspire myself to get back up there, have the courage to do it in the face of heartbreak and life completely changing,” she shared.
