Iain Armitage and Asher Grodman Spark Fun Ghosts and Young Sheldon Crossover Buzz
Fans of Ghosts and Young Sheldon got a surprise this week when stars from both shows playfully hinted at a possible crossover — all sparked by a chance meeting and a couple of Instagram stories.
It started when Young Sheldon actor Iain Armitage ran into Ghosts star Asher Grodman. Armitage, who is now 17, shared a selfie with Grodman and called him one of his “favorite people to randomly run into.” The caption was short and sweet, but he couldn’t resist adding, “We keep having these Young Sheldon / Ghosts crossover moments,” giving fans something to smile about.
Could Iain Armitage actually appear in Ghosts?
That idea didn’t come out of nowhere. Grodman, who plays the always-shirtless ghost Trevor in Ghosts, reposted the selfie and jokingly asked fans to “raise your hand” if they think Iain should appear on the show. Not one to miss a good bit, Armitage fired back with a perfect throwback photo of himself from his early Young Sheldon days — hand raised high. “Here’s my hand raising,” he wrote, fully playing along.
It was a short interaction, but one that immediately captured fans’ imaginations. Could there really be room for Iain Armitage in the Ghosts universe? Maybe. Maybe not. But the idea of the famously awkward genius Sheldon Cooper meeting a house full of chatty ghosts? That’s sitcom gold, even if it stays as just a joke.
Where are the stars now?
Armitage is best known for bringing young Sheldon Cooper to life in the CBS hit Young Sheldon, which ran from 2017 to 2024. The show gave audiences a deeper look into the childhood of the Big Bang Theory favorite, focusing on family, Texas life, and Sheldon’s early years as a misunderstood genius.
Grodman, on the other hand, plays Trevor on Ghosts, another CBS fan-favorite. Trevor is a ghost from the early 2000s with loud energy and a finance bro attitude, stuck in the afterlife without his pants — literally. The show follows Samantha and Jay, a couple who inherit an old mansion that turns out to be filled with spirits from different time periods. After a strange accident, Sam can suddenly see and talk to all of them.
Ghosts has become a hit thanks to its unique blend of humor, history, and heartfelt moments. Alongside Grodman, the show stars Rose McIver as Samantha, Rebecca Wisocky as Hetty, Brandon Scott Jones as Captain Isaac, and a full cast of ghostly characters, each with their own backstory.
While there’s no official crossover planned between Ghosts and Young Sheldon, the lighthearted online exchange between the two actors shows the kind of fun energy both shows bring. It’s always refreshing to see stars interacting off-screen with the same humor that makes their characters so memorable.
And hey, who knows? Maybe one day a certain boy genius will show up in a haunted mansion, wondering why everyone’s talking to the walls. Fans would love to see it.
