GloRilla Hit With Felony Drug Charges After Burglary Incident at Georgia Home

Grammy-nominated rapper GloRilla, whose real name is Gloria Woods, is facing serious legal trouble after police discovered illegal substances at her home in Georgia. The situation unfolded when officers responded to a burglary report over the weekend, but the investigation quickly took a turn.

What Sparked the Police Response?

Authorities say officers rushed to GloRilla’s Forsyth County residence on Saturday after receiving a report that three intruders had entered the home and were attempting to steal items. According to Stacie Miller, public information officer for the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Department, an armed occupant of the home fired shots at the suspects, who fled the scene. No injuries were reported during the incident.

Detectives from the Major Crimes and Crime Scene Unit were called to investigate. While processing the scene, they reportedly noticed a strong smell consistent with illegal narcotics, prompting them to involve the Lanier Regional Drug Task Force.

What Did Investigators Find?

After obtaining a search warrant, agents searched the home and discovered a large amount of marijuana in plain view inside the master bedroom closet. The findings led to felony charges for GloRilla, including possession of marijuana and possession of a Schedule 1 controlled substance.

The rapper was not home during the burglary as she was performing at the WNBA All-Star game in Indianapolis. However, she voluntarily turned herself in to the Forsyth County Jail on Tuesday. She posted bond and was released later that day.

How Did GloRilla Respond?

GloRilla wasted no time sharing her side of the story on social media. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), she expressed frustration over the situation. “Crazy!! My house got home invaded Saturday while I was in Indianapolis performing for the WNBA all star game & instead of focusing on finding the suspects, they focus on some cannabis,” she wrote. In another post, she added, “Long story short my house gets home invaded and I’m the only one that gets arrested.”

Sheriff Ron Freeman commented on the case, acknowledging that GloRilla is also a victim of a serious crime. “The homeowner is a victim of a serious crime, and we are committed to bringing the suspects to justice,” he said. “At the same time, we must continue to uphold and enforce the law in all aspects of this case.”
