Ezra Miller Talks Hollywood Return After Cannes Appearance

Ezra Miller has been away from the spotlight for a while. After a string of legal troubles and intense public scrutiny, the actor is now hinting at a possible return to Hollywood. But they’re doing it carefully. And very quietly.

Back on the Red Carpet

Last month, Miller showed up at the Cannes Film Festival. It was a rare public appearance. The Fantastic Beasts star had been staying out of the public eye for nearly two years. But Cannes brought them back into the light.

Why Cannes? It wasn’t just for show. It was personal.

Ezra came to support Lynne Ramsay, their longtime friend and the director of We Need to Talk About Kevin. Ramsay’s new film, Die My Love, was premiering, and she asked Miller to be there. So they showed up, saying, “I came to Cannes to support one of my closest friends in the world.”

That bond is strong enough that the two are actually working together again. Ezra revealed that they’re co-writing a film with Ramsay. “That will likely be the first thing I do,” Miller shared in an interview with Lo Speciale Giornale.

Time in Solitude

Miller admitted they’ve spent a lot of time writing lately. It’s something they’ve leaned into while being away from Hollywood. Writing felt like a safe space. A way to stay creative without the pressure of cameras and red carpets.

“It’s been friendly to me,” they said about solitude.

Reflecting on the Past

Ezra didn’t ignore the controversy surrounding them. They opened up about the “abyss” of the last few years. The arrests. The allegations. The stories that dominated headlines.

They admitted feeling remorse. But they also spoke about learning from those experiences.

“I’m really, really grateful for the lessons,” Miller said.

Legal Battles and Public Scrutiny

There’s been a lot to unpack. In 2023, a Massachusetts court lifted a harassment order against Miller. It followed claims from a mother who said the actor acted inappropriately around her 12-year-old. Miller denied the claims and said the accusations were false and driven by personal motives.

“I have been unjustly and directly targeted,” they said in a statement.

That’s just one chapter in a complicated story. But it looks like Ezra is slowly re-entering the world of film, starting with those closest to them.

Quietly. Carefully. On their own terms.
