Eileen Davidson Criticized for ‘Poor Taste’ Post After Charlie Kirk Murder
Eileen Davidson, former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, is under fire for her comments following the murder of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk. An Instagram post she shared quickly sparked outrage and was slammed as “disgusting” by netizens.
In the post, which has since been deleted, Davidson, 66, wrote, “I am not in support of what happened to Charlie Kirk, but Charlie Kirk was in support of what happened to Charlie Kirk.” The statement appeared to reference Kirk’s past remarks about gun violence in America.
The backlash was immediate, with critics accusing her of celebrating a tragedy. Social media erupted, calling her remarks insensitive and disrespectful in light of the horrific event.
Davidson’s Clarification
After the criticism grew, Davidson addressed the controversy on X (formerly Twitter). She insisted that her post was being taken out of context and denied celebrating Kirk’s death.
“Just for the record people? I never ever in 1 million years would celebrate the assassination of anybody ever. Please don’t twist things around,” Davidson wrote. Her response was intended to calm the outrage, but many weren’t convinced.
Despite her clarification, screenshots of the deleted Instagram post continued circulating online. The persistence of the post only fueled further criticism and calls for accountability.
Kirk’s Past Comments on Gun Violence
Davidson’s Instagram post appeared to be referencing remarks Charlie Kirk made in April 2023. At that time, Kirk defended the Second Amendment, even acknowledging the annual cost of gun deaths.
“I think it’s worth it. I think it’s worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights,” Kirk had said.
For Davidson, it seemed like a political point about hypocrisy. For critics, however, it crossed a line into mocking someone who had just been murdered.
Reaction From Social Media
Social media users flooded Davidson’s X replies with sharp criticism. Many accused her of mocking Kirk’s death while pretending not to celebrate it.
One person wrote, “But you did and then deleted it not realizing that the internet is forever. How dare you???” Another commented, “No, you didn’t celebrate it. You mocked it thinking you were making some profound political point. Extremely poor taste to say the least.”
Others were even harsher, calling Davidson “irrelevant” and “disgusting” for posting what they described as a tasteless meme. Some longtime fans said they were disappointed and unfollowed her after the controversy.
The Broader Context
The controversy came just days after Kirk, 31, was shot and killed while appearing at Utah Valley University. He was interacting with students during a Q&A session when shots were fired.
Police arrested 22-year-old Tyler Robinson as the suspect in the assassination. Robinson is being held without bail and faces preliminary charges of aggravated murder, obstruction of justice, and felony discharge of a firearm.
The case has already sparked heated political debate, and Davidson’s comments added more fuel to the fire. Her remarks continue to divide opinion, but for many, they remain “in extremely poor taste.”
