Cynthia Erivo To Receive Santa Barbara’s Kirk Douglas Award For Excellence In Film
Cynthia Erivo is adding another honor to her already impressive list of achievements. The Santa Barbara International Film Festival (SBIFF) has announced that the Oscar-nominated star will be the recipient of the 18th annual Kirk Douglas Award for Excellence in Film. The award will be presented at a black-tie fundraiser on December 4, 2025, at the Ritz-Carlton Bacara in Santa Barbara.
A prestigious recognition
Each year, SBIFF hosts the Kirk Douglas Award, with proceeds supporting the festival’s educational initiatives. This year, all eyes will be on Erivo, who has already achieved the rare feat of winning a Grammy, a Tony, and an Emmy. The annual event begins with a cocktail reception, followed by dinner and a tribute to the awardee. SBIFF describes the tribute as “clip packages” showcasing highlights of the honoree’s career, ending with the award presentation.

At just 37, Cynthia Erivo has become one of the most celebrated performers of her generation.
