Cameron Diaz’s Ex-Assistant Says She Was ‘Obsessed’ With Actor’s Wine Brand Avaline
Cameron Diaz isn’t just a Hollywood star—she’s also a passionate wine entrepreneur. Her former assistant, Janet Caperna, who now appears on Bravo’s The Valley, opened up about her time working for Diaz in a new interview with Page Six’s Virtual Reali-Tea. And if you were expecting drama, think again. Caperna had nothing but love for her time on Team Avaline.
She described her experience working on Cameron’s wine brand as genuinely enjoyable and even said she’s still “obsessed” with wine because of it. According to Janet, she was part of a close-knit team that focused on Avaline’s behind-the-scenes operations. Whether it was sampling, logistics, or events, she seemed to soak up every part of the wine world.
A Tight-Knit Network of Hollywood Assistants
One fun detail Caperna mentioned was that she still keeps in touch with a small circle of fellow assistants in Los Angeles. They regularly help each other out, exchange tips, and stay connected. It’s not every day that someone sheds light on what it’s like to be an assistant to A-list stars, but her take was refreshing and positive.
Janet made it clear she respected Cameron and co-founder Katherine Power’s vision from the start. And judging by how the wine brand has flourished, they’ve definitely created something special.
Avaline’s Journey From Lockdown Idea to Wine Industry Hit
Cameron Diaz and Katherine Power launched Avaline back in 2020, right in the middle of the pandemic. The idea behind the brand was simple but powerful: make clean, organic wine just as thoughtfully as skincare or wellness products. To bring that idea to life, the pair traveled across Europe, meeting with organic grape farmers and winemakers to learn everything they could.
Avaline’s initial launch featured just two wines—a Spanish white and a French rosé. Fast-forward to today, and the brand has expanded into reds, sparkling varieties, and curated blends. It’s been such a success that Avaline reportedly pulled in over $33 million in sales last year alone.
