Browns Rookie QB Shedeur Sanders Cited for Driving 101 MPH in Ohio
Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders is making headlines again. But this time, it’s not for his skills on the field. According to police records, Sanders was pulled over just after midnight on June 17 for driving 101 mph on I-71 North in Strongsville, Ohio.
That’s 41 miles over the posted speed limit. The incident happened around 12:24 a.m., and Sanders was cited on the spot. He now has the option to pay the fine or fight the ticket in court.
Speeding Issue Growing Across Ohio
This isn’t just an isolated incident. The Ohio State Highway Patrol reported that more than 3,700 drivers were ticketed for going over 100 mph last year. And over 83,000 drivers were caught speeding 20 mph over the limit. The state has been vocal about cracking down on dangerous speeds.
Judy Converse from the Ohio Traffic Safety Office has said plainly, “There is no excuse for extreme speeds.” It’s a safety issue that continues to put lives at risk.
A Rookie Role Model With a Lesson to Learn
Sanders, who was picked by the Browns in the fifth round of the NFL Draft, had recently visited John Marshall High School. He spoke with students about making smart choices and listening to their parents. Now, many are pointing out the irony of his message compared to his late-night decision behind the wheel.
