Brent Hinds, Former Mastodon Frontman and Guitarist, Dies in Motorcycle Accident at 51

Brent Hinds, the former frontman and lead guitarist of the Atlanta heavy metal band Mastodon, died late Wednesday night in a motorcycle crash, authorities confirmed. He was 51.

According to the Atlanta Police Department, Hinds was riding a Harley-Davidson when the accident occurred around 11:35 p.m., less than two miles from downtown Atlanta. He was found unresponsive at the scene, and emergency medical workers pronounced him dead.

Police said the crash happened when a woman driving a BMW SUV failed to yield while making a left turn, colliding with Hinds’ motorcycle. An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
