Blake Lively Shares Her Truth After Justin Baldoni Lawsuit Dismissed

Blake Lively is speaking out in her own words after a long and emotional legal battle. The actress, 37, opened up on June 9 about what she described as the pain of facing a “retaliatory lawsuit,” after a judge officially dismissed Justin Baldoni’s countersuit against her. The lawsuit, which once made headlines for its $400 million claim, is now behind her, but the experience clearly left a deep mark.

A Personal Message from Lively

Blake posted a heartfelt message on Instagram Stories, where she talked about the emotional weight of the lawsuit and what it represents for so many others. “Like so many others, I’ve felt the pain of a retaliatory lawsuit, including the manufactured shame that tries to break us,” she wrote. She didn’t just celebrate the legal win but used her platform to highlight how hard it is for many people to defend themselves in these situations.

She added, “While the suit against me was defeated, so many don’t have the resources to fight back.” Her words show the real emotional toll these legal battles can take, especially on women who speak out.

Standing Up for Women’s Rights

Lively made it clear she’s not stepping away from this fight. “I’m more resolved than ever to continue to stand for every woman’s right to have a voice in protecting themselves,” she wrote. She talked about defending not just safety, but dignity, integrity, and the right to tell one’s own story.

In a strong show of solidarity, she listed out several organizations that help women in similar situations. Groups like the California Women’s Law Center, Equal Rights Advocates, National Network to End Domestic Violence, and Her Justice were all tagged in her post. Some of these organizations had also submitted amicus briefs in support of Lively during the case.

Legal Team Responds to the Ruling

After Judge Lewis J. Liman officially tossed out the massive lawsuit brought by Baldoni and the Wayfarer Parties, Lively’s legal team called it a “total victory and a complete vindication.” Attorneys Esra Hudson and Mike Gottlieb were blunt about their thoughts on the case. “As we have said from day one, this ‘$400 million’ lawsuit was a sham, and the Court saw right through it,” they stated.

They also confirmed they’re not done. The next step is seeking attorney’s fees, treble damages, and punitive damages for what they’re calling abusive litigation.

While most of the claims were dismissed, the judge did leave the door open for Baldoni’s team to amend certain claims by June 23, if they choose to continue the fight.

The Backstory of the Lawsuit

Blake Lively had originally filed a lawsuit against Justin Baldoni and others in December 2024. Her claims included sexual harassment and retaliation, which Baldoni has denied. He responded by countersuing, with accusations of defamation and extortion, dragging both Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds into the legal mess.

Earlier this year, Lively dropped two of her own claims, which her team said was simply a strategy to focus the case better. They made it clear it wasn’t a sign of backing down.

Ongoing Tensions Between the Two Sides

Even as this part of the case closes, there’s still tension in the air. In March, Baldoni’s lawyer, Freedman, called Lively’s attempt to dismiss the countersuit a “self-concocted disaster.” He accused her of abusing the legal system and twisting the law to suit her public image. His tone made it clear that Baldoni’s side doesn’t see the case as over.

The trial is scheduled for March 2026, which means this story could continue unfolding for quite some time. For now, Lively is choosing to speak up, not just for herself, but for everyone who’s ever been in her shoes.
