Battle Creek Middle School Softball Player Bexley Hiler Passes Away, Leaving Her Father, Nate Hiler
The Spring Hill, Tennessee, community is grieving the sudden and heartbreaking loss of Bexley Hiler, a young girl who touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Bexley, a student at Battle Creek Middle School, passed away recently, leaving behind a devastated family, a tight-knit school community, and an entire softball world that had come to love her deeply.
Her father, Nate Hiler, shared a raw and emotional message on social media that captured what so many were feeling.
“She’s the best human on this planet,” he wrote, urging anyone who knew Bex to rally around the family in their darkest hour. His words reflected a truth that countless people echoed across posts, comments, and heartfelt tributes pouring in from every corner of the community.
A School and Neighborhood Left Heartbroken
Battle Creek Middle School released a formal statement from principal Dr. Angela V. Roa, acknowledging the profound loss and its impact on students and staff alike.
The school announced that grief counselors would be available on May 27th from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to support anyone who needed help processing their emotions.
The statement also extended special condolences to Bexley’s brother, Jaxon, recognizing that this loss would ripple through the entire school family for a long time to come.
Friends and neighbors described Bexley as someone who cared more about others than herself, a rare quality in someone so young.
Molly Kate Palmer, a close family friend, called her “the sweetest little girl” and asked people of all faiths to offer up prayers. The outpouring of love that followed her passing made it clear that Bexley had made an impression far beyond her years.
The Softball World Stands Together for the Hiler Family
Bexley was also a dedicated and passionate softball player, a member of the Bethesda Bombers travel softball organization. When news of her passing spread through the softball community, the response was immediate and overwhelming.
Middle Tennessee Clutch Softball issued a statement reminding the community that the travel softball world is large, mighty, and deeply connected, and they called on everyone to rally around the Hiler family.
The Bethesda Bananas Baseball Club also asked members to lift the family in prayer, emphasizing that their organization has always been about more than wins and losses. “It’s about family,” their statement read, and in that spirit, they stood firmly beside the Hilers in their most painful moment.
Dreams in Action, a softball training organization, shared that they had the honor of working with Bexley personally. They described her as “a light,” a kid full of grit, determination, passion, and joy for the game.
Their tribute captured something that every tribute seemed to agree on. Bexley Hiler was not just a player. She was a presence that made every space she entered better.
Family friend Jennifer Zeuch Orton perhaps said it most simply and most honestly:
“This side of heaven we have so many whys.”
The Hiler family, including parents Sarah and Nate and brother Jaxon, is surrounded by an entire community that loves them. Spring Hill is holding them close, and the prayers being offered across Tennessee and beyond are a testament to the beautiful life Bexley lived.
