Andor Season 2 Ending Explained: Deaths, Destiny, and the Rise of the Rebellion

The final three episodes of Andor Season 2 deliver everything Star Wars fans hoped for and more. There’s tension, heartbreak, sacrifice, and a direct bridge to Rogue One. If you’ve been following Cassian’s journey from a man running from his past to someone willing to die for the cause, this ending hits deep.

Let’s break down what actually happened in Episodes 10 through 12, and what it all means moving forward in the galaxy far, far away.

What Happens in the Final Three Episodes of Andor Season 2?

Things move fast once Episode 10 begins. Luthen gets word from his ISB mole, Lonni, that the Empire is onto him. Dedra knows Luthen is a rebel, and worse, Lonni reveals that the Empire is building a powerful new weapon. The planets involved? Jeddha and Scarif. If you’ve seen Rogue One, you know what that means: the Death Star is nearly ready.

Lonni wants out, but Luthen kills him to protect the Rebellion. Then Luthen returns to the antique shop to destroy any evidence. He’s almost done when Dedra arrives. She brings with her the stolen Starpath Unit from Season 1 and confronts him. But before she can arrest him, Luthen stabs himself to avoid interrogation. Dedra tries to save him, and he ends up in a hospital.

That’s where Kleya enters the picture. Through flashbacks, we learn how she met Luthen during a war. He raised her like a daughter. Now, she sneaks into the hospital and pulls the plug on Luthen’s life support. He dies before the Empire can learn anything more.

In Episode 11, Dedra is grilled by Krennic. Turns out, she had access to classified information about the Death Star. She was supposed to delete it but didn’t. That allowed Lonni to pass the info to Luthen. In a cruel twist, Dedra becomes the reason the Rebellion learns about the Empire’s ultimate weapon.

Cassian, Melshi, and K-2SO get the message from Kleya and rush to rescue her from Coruscant. She tells Cassian about the Death Star.

What Happens in Episode 12?

Cassian, Melshi, and K-2 rescue Kleya and bring her to Yavin 4. But the rebels at the base don’t believe the intel. Only General Draven is willing to act on it. So, Cassian heads to the Ring of Kafrene to meet Tivik. This is exactly where Rogue One begins.

Before leaving, Cassian dreams of his sister and says he may reach out to Bix later. But fans of Rogue One know that reunion never happens.

Meanwhile, other pieces fall into place. Partagaz listens to Nemik’s manifesto, then takes his own life off-screen, likely to avoid punishment for leaking Death Star secrets. Dedra ends up in an Imperial prison, sobbing in a place that mirrors the brutal Narkina 5 facility where Cassian was once held.

Bix is shown back on Mina-Rau, with droid B2EMO by her side. She’s holding a baby. The show doesn’t spell it out, but many believe it’s her and Cassian’s child.

Who Dies in the Final Episodes of Andor?

The last few episodes come with major losses.

  • Lonni is killed by Luthen after leaking Death Star info.
  • Luthen stabs himself and is later killed by Kleya in the hospital.
  • Officer Heert dies at the hands of K-2SO during Kleya’s rescue.
  • Partagaz takes his own life, presumably over the Death Star leak.

These deaths serve the larger story. They remind us how much is sacrificed before the events of Rogue One even begin.

How Does Andor Set Up Rogue One?

Perfectly. Andor Season 2 ends right at the doorstep of Rogue One. Cassian heads to Kafrene to meet Tivik, who brings him more Death Star info. That moment is our first scene in Rogue One. The transition is smooth and emotional, especially knowing what Cassian has lost to get here.

The Rebels are still divided. Most don’t believe in the super weapon. That changes with Jyn Erso later, but for now, Cassian carries the burden alone.

Did Cassian Ever Find His Sister?

Sadly, no. His quest to find her began in Season 1, sparked by a rumor on Morlana One. Maarva told him not to chase ghosts, convinced no one from Kenari survived.

In Episode 12, Cassian dreams of her. It’s short and symbolic. It reminds us of how his journey started. But by now, Cassian has chosen a greater path. His personal mission ends where his rebellion begins.

We know from Rogue One that he dies without ever reconnecting with her. His story becomes one of selfless sacrifice.

What Happens to Bix and the Baby?

Back on Mina-Rau, Bix is shown with B2EMO and an infant. The show never confirms the baby’s father, but the timing suggests Cassian. That adds an extra layer of heartbreak. Bix will raise the child alone, while Cassian’s legacy lives on through both the Rebellion and, possibly, his child.

What About Kleya and Vel?

Kleya and Vel are on Yavin 4. Kleya is injured from the escape and isn’t welcomed with open arms. The Rebels doubt her story about the Death Star.

We never see Kleya or Vel again in the Star Wars timeline, so their futures are unclear. But after what they’ve done, it’s safe to say they’ll be remembered as early pillars of the Rebellion.
