Alexandria Man, Marlow Trottie, 35, Killed in Cummins Street Homicide; Family Remembers Him as a Generous Soul

The Alexandria Police Department is investigating the death of 35-year-old Marlow Trottie, whose body was discovered Monday morning, June 8, 2026, in the 2400 block of Cummins Street. Officers responded to the scene around 7:30 a.m. after receiving a report of a person found deceased. Detectives have ruled the death a homicide, and the case remains under active investigation.

Trottie, born July 1, 1990, was a longtime resident of the Alexandria area known by those close to him as a generous and warm-spirited person. His family remembered him as someone who would give his last dollar and still find a way to make the people around him laugh.

His sister, Tillerria Howard, shared a heartfelt tribute on Facebook, writing that Marlow was more than the circumstances of his death. She described him as a son, brother, uncle, friend, and a light in the lives of everyone who knew him.

“He was the sweetest soul,” Howard wrote. “He had been through so much in life, but he never let it harden his heart. No matter what was going on, he always found a reason to laugh. And if you knew Marlow, then you know that laugh was contagious.”

Howard said the family is asking for prayers as they try to cope with a loss she described as impossible to put into words. She confirmed that their mother is especially struggling with the news.

“My baby was so sweet and innocent and would give the shirt off his back and last dollar in his pocket,” she wrote in a separate comment. “I just wish we could grieve in peace.”
