Taylor Swift Announces New Album ‘The Life of a Showgirl’ With Sabrina Carpenter Collaboration

Taylor Swift has officially revealed details about her next studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, which will be released on October 3.

The pop superstar made the announcement during Wednesday’s episode of the New Heights podcast, hosted by her boyfriend Travis Kelce and his brother Jason. She unveiled the album cover, track list, and confirmed that the project was co-produced with Max Martin and Shellback.

The cover, shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, shows Swift floating underwater with the title in orange glittery lettering. Swift said she wanted the imagery to capture an “offstage moment,” explaining, “The album isn’t really about what happened onstage, but what happened offstage. I wanted to glamorize all the aspects of how the tour felt.”

The 12-track album will include a title track featuring Sabrina Carpenter, closing out the record. Other songs include “Actually Romantic,” “Father Figure,” “Elizabeth Taylor,” “Cancelled!,” and “Honey.” Unlike her last release, The Tortured Poets Department, which featured 31 songs across two parts, this album will be tightly focused.

“This is 12 songs for my 12th album,” Swift said. “Every single song is on this album for hundreds of reasons. You couldn’t take one out and have it be the same album, and you couldn’t add one.”

Swift described the record as “infectiously joyful, wild, and dramatic,” reflecting her inner life during the tour. Her goal was to create “melodies so infectious you’re almost angry at them” paired with “vivid, crisp, and intentional” lyrics.

The announcement was teased earlier in the week with a countdown on her website, which crashed briefly before revealing special editions, including an orange glitter vinyl, a cassette, and a CD version.

This will be Swift’s first collaboration with Sabrina Carpenter, who has been opening for her on the Eras Tour. Fans can expect the album to bring a behind-the-scenes look at one of the most electric periods of her career.
