KFC Brings Back Beloved Potato Wedges After 5 Years, Adds Hot & Spicy Wings to the Menu
It’s official — KFC fans are getting exactly what they’ve been asking for. After five long years, the fast-food giant is bringing back one of its most requested side dishes: potato wedges. The crispy-on-the-outside, fluffy-on-the-inside favorite will be available nationwide starting August 18.
“Wedge-lovers, we heard you — and we agree it’s been five long years without wedges. But the wait is over,” said Catherine Tan-Gillespie, President of KFC U.S., in a statement. She added that this return isn’t just a nostalgic gesture but part of KFC’s “Kentucky Fried Comeback” — a push to win back customers with more reasons to love the brand.
And that’s not all. Alongside the wedges, KFC is also reintroducing another fan favorite: Hot & Spicy Wings. These wings come with a fiery marinade, are double hand-breaded in KFC’s signature Extra Crispy coating, and promise the perfect amount of heat with every crunchy bite — making them an ideal match for those golden wedges.
The items will only be available while supplies last, and prices will vary depending on location.
Potato wedges were removed from KFC’s menu in 2020, replaced by Secret Recipe Fries. Earlier this year, KFC quietly tested the wedges’ return at five Tampa locations for two weeks. At the time, a company spokesperson said any nationwide rollout would depend on customer feedback. Clearly, the test went better than expected, because just five months later, the wedges are coming back for everyone.
“They are one of KFC’s most requested menu items,” the spokesperson noted in March 2025. “Fans have been demanding and petitioning for them to return for five years.”
So, for those who have been missing that perfect wedge-and-chicken combo, the countdown to August 18 starts now.
