South Park Creators Rip Paramount Merger Over Season 27 Delay

Trey Parker and Matt Stone have never been shy. So when they found out South Park season 27 was getting pushed back again, they did what they do best. They swore at the big shots behind the scenes. They dropped a raw message on the official South Park X account. Fans didn’t get a calm PR line. They got the real Parker and Stone.

They said straight up this whole merger with Skydance is a mess. They called it a “s—show” that’s “f—ing up South Park.” They didn’t sugarcoat a thing. It’s the kind of honesty that’s kept this show alive since 1997. No fake smiles, no spin.

Why Is This Merger Making Things So Messy?

If you’ve been following Hollywood’s recent chaos, you know streaming deals are a headache now. Paramount owns Comedy Central. But they’re trying to merge with David Ellison’s Skydance. While that deal hangs in the air, it’s tangled up who can stream what.

Last time fans got a full South Park season was way back in early 2023. Since then, they dropped three specials on Paramount+. But an actual season? Fans have been waiting over two years. Trey and Matt say they’re in the studio working. So it’s not like they’re slacking. They want to get these new episodes out. But big execs keep shifting dates.

Shari Redstone, who holds the biggest stake at Paramount, said she wants to “fortify Paramount for the future.” Good for her. But Parker and Stone are right — fans just want Cartman and Stan back on screen.

Do The Stars Really Care About This Stuff?

What’s funny is South Park has always taken shots at celebrities. They don’t care who you are. Remember when they roasted the Jonas Brothers in 2009? Mickey Mouse literally beat them up on screen. The whole purity ring thing got shredded in one episode. Joe Jonas recently looked back at it. He told Mythical Kitchen he was the only brother who thought it was hilarious. He knew the show’s style. If South Park mocks you, it means you’re famous enough to matter.

The truth is, South Park still has that raw nerve. Even with these delays, Parker and Stone are sticking to their edge. They don’t care if a big merger is happening. They’ll still call it what it is — a mess. The new season is now supposed to drop July 23. Fans will keep waiting. Parker and Stone will keep pushing. And if someone at Paramount screws up again, you know exactly what they’ll say about it.
