Liam Neeson Leads ‘The Naked Gun’ Reboot With Pamela Anderson & Cameos
It’s official. Liam Neeson is stepping into the messy shoes of Lt Frank Drebin Jr in the fresh take on The Naked Gun. That’s enough to get fans of the original giggling already.
This new reboot comes packed with old-school gags and some new spice. The trailer sets the tone right away. You see Neeson’s Drebin Jr kneeling in front of his dad’s portrait. A nod to Leslie Nielsen’s iconic Drebin Sr. That moment alone says this reboot knows its roots.
Then the camera pans. A line of other detectives kneel in front of portraits too. But the cheeky part? One detective refuses to kneel in front of Nordberg’s portrait. That subtle jab at OJ Simpson’s messy legacy is pure Naked Gun humor. It’s silly but smart. Fans of the old films will grin for sure.
How Wild Does The New ‘Naked Gun’ Get?
Akiva Schaffer’s direction brings in that high-speed, slapstick chaos fans expect. The trailer is packed with quick cuts, gunshots, bad guys flying across rooms and Neeson doing things that Frank Drebin should never do.
And then there’s Pamela Anderson. She joins as Drebin’s love interest. Anderson hasn’t lost her screen charm. Her last film, The Last Showgirl, proved she still knows how to have fun with a part. In The Naked Gun, her chemistry with Neeson looks playful and goofy, which is what this comedy needs.
Then there’s Busta Rhymes and Cody Rhodes. When you see a rapper and a WWE superstar popping up in a Liam Neeson comedy, you know they’re aiming for mayhem. It’s stunt casting but in a fun way.
This reboot also pays tribute to big action blockbusters. Some parts of the trailer even feel like Mission Impossible but with Drebin fumbling around. The complete disregard for any rules is classic Drebin. Neeson smashing criminals while staying completely clueless is what makes this reboot feel fresh but nostalgic.
Seth MacFarlane and Erica Huggins are producing, which adds more spice. MacFarlane’s comedy sense fits perfectly with The Naked Gun’s style. The writing team of Schaffer, Dan Gregor and Doug Mand clearly wanted to keep that old-school spoof energy alive.
Fans in India can catch the madness on August 1, 2025. So if you loved the old Drebin or just want to watch Neeson do comedy with Anderson by his side, The Naked Gun is lining up to be a fun mess on the big screen again.
