Jinkx Monsoon Joins Broadway’s Oh, Mary! This Summer

Jinkx Monsoon is officially stepping back onto Broadway, and this time, she’s taking on one of the wildest roles of her career. The two-time RuPaul’s Drag Race champ just announced she’ll be joining the darkly hilarious play Oh, Mary! for a limited run starting August 4 through September 27 at the Lyceum Theatre.

If you’ve been following her recent run in Pirates! The Penzance Musical with Roundabout Theatre Company, you already know she’s been owning the stage. But now she’s swapping out her swashbuckler gear for bloomers—and she’s beyond excited about it.

What’s the Deal with Oh, Mary!?

Oh, Mary! isn’t your standard historical drama. Written and originally performed by Cole Escola, it reimagines Mary Todd Lincoln as a chaotic, boozy, cabaret-obsessed First Lady in the days leading up to Lincoln’s assassination.

Sounds offbeat? It absolutely is.

The show started off-Broadway at Lucille Lortel Theatre and was such a hit that it got extended multiple times. Eventually, it made the jump to Broadway, officially opening on July 11, 2024.

Escola’s twisted and hilarious take on Mary Todd Lincoln earned major praise. They picked up two Outer Critics Circle Awards and a 2024 Off Broadway Alliance Award. Oh, and they just took home a 2025 Tony Award for their performance. No big deal.

The Lineup

Escola will wrap their run on June 21, then Tituss Burgess takes over until August 2. Jinkx slides in right after that.

The rest of the original cast—Conrad Ricamora, James Scully, Bianca Leigh, and Tony Macht—stick around through August 2. Casting for Jinkx’s run hasn’t been announced yet, but that’s something to watch out for.

What Jinkx Said About Joining

Jinkx called the show one of the “best, funniest, most energizing” things she’s ever seen. She added, “To be invited to live in this playground is an honor and a privilege.” And in typical Jinkx fashion, she joked, “Happy to trade in one pair of bloomers for another.”

Honestly, she’s the perfect fit for this bold, no-rules type of comedy.

Who’s Behind the Scenes?

The Broadway production is directed by Sam Pinkleton, who also helmed the Off-Broadway version. His creative team includes:

  • Scenic Designer: dots
  • Costumes: Holly Pierson
  • Lighting: Cha See
  • Sound: Daniel Kluger & Drew Levy
  • Wigs: Leah J. Loukas
  • Music Arrangements: David Dabbon

The whole team’s bringing a quirky vision to life—and it’s working.

Don’t Miss Jinkx on Broadway

Mark your calendars: August 4 to September 27. Jinkx Monsoon takes the stage as Mary Todd Lincoln in one of the weirdest and most talked-about shows on Broadway right now.

Tickets are available now, and you’ll want to grab them before they’re gone—this one’s going to be unforgettable.
