Alex Cooper Opens Up About Alleged Sexual Harassment in New Hulu Docuseries

Alex Cooper is known for being bold and unfiltered on her podcast Call Her Daddy, but in her new Hulu docuseries Call Her Alex, she shares something deeply personal and painful. During the show’s premiere at the Tribeca Festival on June 8, Cooper revealed that she was sexually harassed by her former college soccer coach, Nancy Feldman, while playing for Boston University between 2013 and 2015.

A Toxic Relationship With Her Coach

In the documentary, Cooper says the situation began during her sophomore year. She describes how Feldman, who coached women’s soccer at BU for decades, started to show her unusual and uncomfortable attention. According to Cooper, it went far beyond regular coach-player dynamics.

She claimed Feldman would ask invasive questions about her dating life, make comments about her body, and often tried to be alone with her. In one moment from the doc, Cooper recounts Feldman putting her hand on her thigh and asking if she’d had sex the night before. Cooper describes it as “a psychotic game” and says Feldman would use her authority to isolate her.

Feeling Trapped and Powerless

Cooper explains how hard it was to speak out back then. She was attending Boston University on a full scholarship, and she feared losing it if she challenged Feldman’s behavior. “If I didn’t follow this woman’s rules, I was gone,” she says in the film. She did talk to her parents, and they reached out to lawyers, but they were told the legal fight could drag on for years and may not lead to change.

Even after presenting documentation of the alleged harassment to BU officials, the university did not remove Feldman. Instead, Feldman remained in her role until she retired in 2022. Cooper ended up quitting the team her senior year but was allowed to keep her scholarship.

Returning to BU Was an Emotional Trigger

In one of the documentary’s most emotional scenes, Cooper returns to the soccer field at BU. Director Ry Russo-Young asked her to walk onto the field and reflect. That’s when everything came flooding back. During the Q&A after the premiere, Cooper said the experience made her feel like she was 18 again—powerless and small.

She admitted she was hesitant to talk about it even during filming, but stepping back onto that field brought back the trauma she had buried for a decade. “I wasn’t the ‘Call Her Daddy’ girl in that moment,” she said. “I was just another woman who experienced harassment that changed my life and took away the thing I loved the most.”

Why It Took So Long to Speak Out

During the premiere Q&A, Cooper shared how hard it was to speak out about something she had carried for ten years. She wanted to encourage other women to tell their stories, but her own experience made it hard to believe that speaking up would bring justice. She wasn’t believed then, and it took her a long time to process the impact of what happened.
