Chris Isaak Lights Up Vina Robles Amphitheatre to Open the Season

If there was a perfect way to open the summer concert season, it happened last Friday night in Paso Robles. Chris Isaak, the legendary crooner with that unmistakable voice and razor-sharp sense of humor, kicked things off at the Vina Robles Amphitheatre with a performance that was equal parts heartfelt and hilarious.

Isaak didn’t come alone. He brought his longtime band, the Silvertone, along for the ride. Known for their tight musicianship and stage chemistry, the band includes Rowland Salley on bass, Chris Powell on drums, JD Simo on guitar, and Michael Webb handling keys and accordion. Isaak, of course, took center stage with his rhythm guitar and smooth vocals. While the lineup might rotate slightly over the years, these names have become a staple of his shows.

A Night Full of Hits and Humor

From the moment Isaak stepped onto the stage, he had the crowd in the palm of his hand. Between cracking jokes and exchanging banter with the crowd, he delivered a setlist that fans have loved for decades. The standout moment for many came when he performed his iconic track “Wicked Game.” Hearing it live, in that intimate open-air setting, was nothing short of magical.

There’s something timeless about Isaak’s sound—part rockabilly, part classic country, all heart. His performance wasn’t just a concert, it was a show. He brings not just his songs but his personality to the stage, making every moment feel like a connection with the audience.

Four Decades of Music, Film, and Influence

It’s hard to believe Isaak’s career has spanned over 40 years. With 13 studio albums, 12 chart-topping singles, and appearances in films like The Silence of the Lambs and That Thing You Do!, his reach extends well beyond the stage. His music has set the tone in major films such as Eyes Wide Shut, Blue Velvet, True Romance, and Wild at Heart.

Just recently, he received a Lifetime Award for Performance from the Americana Honors—a well-deserved recognition for a man who continues to inspire with every note.

A Season Opener to Remember

Isaak’s show wasn’t just the start of the season—it was a celebration of enduring talent. Paso Robles couldn’t have asked for a better night. Fans left smiling, humming his tunes, and already looking forward to the next show under the summer sky.
