Which CBS Shows Were Cancelled for 2025-2026 and Why?

If you thought your favorite CBS show was safe, think again! CBS just made some huge decisions ahead of the 2025-2026 season, and sadly, a few longtime fan favorites — along with some newcomers — didn’t make the cut.

From heartfelt sitcoms to iconic crime dramas, the network is cleaning house. Let’s dive into what’s getting canceled, who’s reacting, and which shows are sticking around.

Which CBS Shows Got Cancelled?

CBS has officially canceled six shows — and it’s a mix of fresh faces and seasoned veterans:

  • Poppa’s House
  • The Summit
  • Blue Bloods
  • FBI: Most Wanted
  • FBI: International
  • S.W.A.T.

“Poppa’s House,” starring the legendary Damon Wayans and his son Damon Wayans Jr., only got one season. Despite the star power, it ended up being CBS’ least-watched scripted show of the 2024-2025 season.

Meanwhile, “The Summit,” a reality competition series, also didn’t survive beyond its first run.

The real heartbreak for longtime fans comes with the cancellation of “Blue Bloods” (after 14 seasons!), “FBI: Most Wanted” (6 seasons), “FBI: International” (4 seasons), and “S.W.A.T” (8 seasons). These shows had loyal audiences, making their endings even harder to accept.

How Are the Stars Reacting to the News?

Understandably, emotions are running high.

Damon Wayans took to Instagram shortly after news of Poppa’s House broke. His post was full of gratitude, saying that the experience gave him “more than I could’ve ever imagined,” and he walked away with “lifelong friendships and unforgettable memories.”

On the other side, Blue Bloods star Tom Selleck didn’t hide his frustration. In an earlier interview, Selleck admitted he was “kind of frustrated” that CBS would cancel such a consistent performer.

“Blue Bloods” ranked #9 in the Top 100 Shows of 2023-2024, which makes the decision even more puzzling for fans and the cast alike.

“My frustration is the show was always taken for granted because it performed from the get-go,” Selleck said, highlighting how dependable the series had been.

Why Did CBS Cancel So Many Shows?

While CBS hasn’t given a full public explanation for every decision, it’s clear they’re trying to refresh their lineup heading into the new TV season.

Ratings, production costs, and strategic shifts always play a role in these calls. Shows like Poppa’s House and The Summit had lower viewership, making them easier targets. For veteran shows like Blue Bloods and S.W.A.T., it likely came down to rising production costs versus return on investment, even if they were still pulling solid ratings.

It’s a tough pill to swallow, but networks are always looking ahead — and sometimes that means tough (and unpopular) choices.

Which CBS Shows Are Safe for 2025-2026?

While it’s goodbye to some classics, CBS is also renewing several popular shows:

  • Fire Country
  • Ghosts
  • Matlock (reboot)
  • NCIS and its spinoffs (NCIS: Sydney and NCIS: Origins)
  • Tracker

So, not all hope is lost! CBS is betting big on the strength of the NCIS universe, the growing popularity of Fire Country, and fresh energy from shows like Tracker to lead the charge into the next TV season.
