Sheriff Chip Simmons announced Wednesday that five people have been arrested in connection with a burglary at Crab’s on Pensacola Beach.
The arrests span three counties across two states, according to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.
Two suspects were taken into custody in Harrison County, Mississippi. Two more were arrested in Baldwin County, Alabama, and a fifth suspect was arrested in Mobile County, Alabama.
The sheriff’s office has not released the names of those arrested or additional details about how each suspect was identified. WEAR News says it is working to gather more information as the investigation continues.
How the Burglary Happened
Deputies say the break-in occurred at Crab’s between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. on Monday. According to investigators, the suspects targeted a safe used to hold deposit money from the restaurant. Rather than attempting to pry the safe open, the group drilled directly into it to access the cash inside.
The sheriff’s office released a photo showing what was recovered from the suspects, including a large amount of cash spread out for documentation, along with a mask, gloves, power tools, and marijuana.
The image gives the public a clearer picture of just how prepared the group appeared to be before carrying out the theft.

News of the arrests spread quickly on social media, with many residents weighing in on how deputies were able to track down suspects in three different counties so fast.
