The Canton Elementary School community in Canton, Mississippi, is grieving the loss of Tyler Mack, a kindergartner who died on June 6 in a tragic car accident. The school shared the heartbreaking news on its Facebook page, describing Tyler as a child whose bright smile and sweet spirit touched the hearts of everyone around him.

“It is with profound sadness that we share the heartbreaking loss of one of our beloved scholars,” the school wrote in its announcement. The post called on the community to keep Tyler’s family, classmates, and teachers in their thoughts and prayers as they face what the school described as an unimaginable loss.

Tyler was only a kindergartner, just at the beginning of his school journey, and his sudden passing has left a deep wound in the hearts of those who knew him.

Mother Launches GoFundMe to Cover Funeral Expenses

Tyler’s mother, Brittany Mack, has launched a GoFundMe fundraiser titled “Honoring Tyler’s Memory” to help cover the costs of her son’s funeral. In her fundraiser description, Brittany wrote that June 6 was the day her world changed forever.

She described Tyler as a bright light in her life and in the lives of all who knew him, saying his kindness, laughter, and caring spirit touched so many people and that his absence leaves a hole in their hearts that can never be filled.

Brittany shared that the funeral expenses have been overwhelming and that any support, no matter how small, would make a difference for the family. She set a fundraising goal of $5,500, and as of the time of this writing, 51 donors have contributed $1,730 toward that goal.

The top donation of $300 came from Trey Jackson, and several other donors have given $50 each to help the family through this difficult time.

In her appeal, Brittany asked for prayers and encouraged people to share the fundraiser even if they are unable to donate financially. She wrote that your generosity will help honor Tyler’s memory and give him the farewell he deserves. Losing Tyler, she said, has been the hardest thing she has ever faced.
