Claxton High School Alumni and Family Grieve 20-Year-Old Journee Cullars After Sudden Death in Claxton, GA
The small city of Claxton, Georgia, is grieving the sudden and heartbreaking loss of one of its own.
Journee Cullars, a 20-year-old young woman affectionately called “GeGe” by those who loved her, passed away on May 22, 2026, leaving behind a family and a community shattered by the news. She was a graduate of Claxton High School and had her whole life ahead of her.
Friends and family took to social media in the days following her death to share memories, offer condolences, and express the kind of raw, unfiltered grief that comes with losing someone so young.
The outpouring was immediate and overwhelming, a testament to the impression Journee left on everyone who crossed her path.
A Daughter Who Lit Up Every Room
Those who knew Journee best describe her as someone with a bright smile and a jolly, infectious personality. Her mother, speaking through her grief, painted a picture of a daughter whose voice filled the house with the everyday questions that now feel like precious memories.
“Ma, where you at?” “Ma, what we doing today?” “Ma, what we eating?” Simple words that a mother will never hear again from her middle child.
“This is so hard for me,” her mother said. “But I know that my middle baby would want me to try to stay strong for her.” Those words carry the weight of a love that does not simply disappear when someone is gone.

Her father, Ace Hunter, shared his pain on Facebook just hours after her death. “My heart is broken into a million pieces. I will never recover,” he wrote. “It’s true, we lost our daughter today.
